Gardening/Landscaping (on-site)

GardeningNarrow Gate is located on 122-acres of hilly pastures and woodlands. We have a fenced-in kitchen garden with raised beds and five distinct areas of landscaping all around the structures. We frequently need help with mulching, weeding, planting, clearing areas and trimming trees. While landscaping, you may or may not be serving alongside the guys.

Based on your skills and experience, please indicate which of the following specific gardening/landscaping tasks you would be willing to complete:

Landscaping (flowers and bushes)
Tree-trimming (ornamentals and hardwoods)

Clerical/Office (on-site or from home)

GardeningNarrow Gate conducts most its business affairs from our property located in Hickman County. We need volunteers who would be willing to help answer the phone, perform basic computer functions (using Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.), organize office supplies, and assist the community relations director (Allie Davis) and administrator (Wanda Stone) as needed. While performing clerical/office work you would not be serving alongside the guys.

Answering phones

It is also special when folks make meals for the guys on-property in our kitchen or bring out meals for the weekend or special events. While serving as a cooking volunteer, you may or may not be serving alongside the guys.

Transportation (helping take guys to doctor/dentist visits)

TransportationDue to our ministry's small staff, sometimes we could use help transporting students to doctor or dentist appointments. It would be helpful to have a list of folks we could contact a day or two in advance to make arrangements for them to use their personal vehicle to drive the guys to an appointment and back to the lodge or another pre-determined location. While volunteering in the transportation area, you would be spending time with the guys.

Please add me to the list and contact me whenever you have transportation needs (requires personal vehicle).

General Property Maintenance and Construction (on-site)

GardeningWhile the NG staff and students regularly maintain the entire property and its structures, we occasionally need professional help or leadership in certain areas. While serving in this way, you may or may not be serving alongside the guys.
